Matthew John Millard, who had been refused bail following the attack, had allegedly turned to the police informant and two other officers while being wheeled from court and simulated pointing a gun at them.

He allegedly called the officers "f---ing dogs" and "f---ing maggots" and said "pow, pow, pow" while feigning gunshots.

He appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday where he was charged with the three fresh offences against the police officers.

Last Monday, Mr Millard, 35, was refused bail on charges of theft, causing harm to a Commonwealth public official and three counts of causing grievous bodily harm by negligent act or omission.

The court heard that the police officers had gone to Mr Millard's unit on Lomatia Street in Rivett on July 1 to talk to the man about an allegedly stolen mobility scooter.

Officers approached the door to speak to Mr Millard and found an American Pitbull growling loudly and "viciously" at them, documents tendered in court said.

It is alleged Mr Millard opened the door and made no attempts to stop the dog from escaping. It's further alleged that while it was attacking the police officer, Mr Millard made no attempt to intervene.

The officers used capsicum spray, a Taser and one tried to shoot the dog to stop the attack.

The police officer was bitten on the hip, calf and hand.

The documents said much of her calf muscle was removed from the bone, and the bite to the hand caused nerve and tendon damage.

She had to undergo surgery at hospital.

The court heard on Friday that while the officer was recovering, she may need further surgery.

He has not entered pleas.

He is next due in court on July 18.
