The jury had heard graphic evidence about the man hearing a bang and then looking down to see a hole in his arm.

Reece Salcedo, 20, and Nathan Brian Stretton, 23, had denied it was them who had committed the home invasion on February 10 last year, arguing in part that their appearances didn't match how the witnesses described the intruders.

But the jury did not accept their defences, returning unanimous verdicts of guilty over the home invasion and two shootings. And it can now be revealed that police found a loaded sawn-off shot gun under Salcedo's pillow when searching his home after the shooting.

During the search, Salcedo also told a police officer, after his interview had concluded, that the gun they had found on his bed was "definitely not the gun used in the shooting. Salt rounds were used", suggesting some knowledge of what had happened.

The trial judge excluded both the shotgun and admission from the trial, ruling that the gun, which was not the one used in the Gordon shooting, would unfairly prejudice the accused Salcedo.

At the opening of the trial prosecutors had pointed to a drug dealing partnership turned sour as the catalyst behind the home invasion. They said the girl was collateral damage in a dispute that came to a head shortly before the shooting.

On February 10, 2017, the girl was home with her five-year-old sister watching television while her mother and her mother’s partner, who have not been named to protect the girl's identity, went for a drive to pick up McDonald's and cannabis, the jury heard during the ACT Supreme Court trial.

While the girl's mother and partner were out on their food and drug run, the partner saw his estranged business partner, Cassie Ogle, who he claimed owed him money.

He told the jury that he started "being a smart arse", by swerving in front of Ms Ogle's car and slowing down.

He said Ms Ogle rammed into the back of his car. He said he pulled on the handbrake, got out of his car and grabbed the keys from her ignition. "What the f--k are you doing you dumb slut," he said he told her.

The man drove off, leaving Ms Ogle stranded on the road. The Crown said that she was furious and called her boyfriend Stretton and dispatched him to collect her keys.

Salcedo and Stretton were acquitted of intentionally using an offensive weapon in circumstances likely to endanger human life, but were found guilty of the alternative charge of recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm for the shooting of the 13-year-old. They were also found guilty of aggravated burglary, intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm for shooting the man and threatening to cause grievous bodily harm.

After the verdicts, Justice Chrissa Loukas-Karlsson thanked the jury for their service.

Salcedo and Stretton are in custody.

They will return to court August 3 for a sentence hearing.
