While the fire is under control, Pierces Creek fire incident controller Rohan Scott said he expected there to be the occasional flare up during the coming week, as there was still unburnt fuel within the containment lines.

Two firefighters were treated for heat stress on Sunday.

The pair were assessed, given the all clear, and sent home as a precaution.

Crews were met with favourable conditions on Sunday and spent the day strengthening containment lines and mopping up hotspots in rugged terrain inaccessible to emergency vehicles.

An ACT Emergency Services Agency statement said four crews would monitor the area and dampen down hot spots overnight.

The statement said the fire remained at 204 hectares and was about 7 km away from the nearest suburb, Kambah.

Mr Scott said fire crews had done an exceptional job containing the blaze, considering the terrain, fuel load, and different types of vegetation.

On Monday, additional remote area firefighting teams would deploy, assisted by three helicopters, to focus on the eastern edge of the fire.

The fire danger rating will reach high on Monday.

Mr Scott said the combination of technology, such as forward looking infrared - which can identify heat hotspots unseen by the naked eye - and a new ESA incident control room had allowed the best use of resources.

He said the infrared information could be collected from the air and on the ground, and then sent to the control room within minutes.

He also said a fire model simulator produced a worst case scenario, giving authorities time to doorknock 1400 homes which could be potentially affected.

"The technology means we can put resources exactly where we need them," he said.

"[Then], by having everyone in the same room, we can make decisions faster and deploy quicker."

"We're up against Mother Nature but we've doing all we can in our power to respond and act more efficiently, safely, and to get the best outcome."

Mr Scott said the majority of roadblocks would be lifted at 6am, allowing access to Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, Camp Cottermouth, and Bullen Range Nature Reserve.

Paddys River Road and Tidbinbilla Road will also open.

However, Kambah Pool Road, Kambah Pool and Pierces Creek forest would remain closed.

The weather is expected to help to firefighters during the week, with the Bureau of Meteorology forecasting rain in the coming days.

Showers were expected to develop late on Monday, with 4-10mm of rain forecast for Tuesday and falls of 10-20mm on Wednesday.

The agency said smoke could continue to drift across the ACT from the fire.

"People with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the dust or smoke," the ESA statement said.

"People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties."
