Police are urging people with information about the man to come forward.
The man entered the restaurant about 10.20pm and demanded the store manager hand over cash from the till. The manager complied but the man grabbed the till and stole more money.
The offender, who ran from the restaurant, was last seen on Lhotsky Street heading towards Tillyard Drive, Charnwood, police said.
Police said the man was described as having a medium build and between 170 and 180 centimetres tall. He was of caucasian appearance, police said.
