One Canberran, however, is using their cash to pay off $15,022 in parking fines racked up in Civic.
The driver of the blue Mazda 3 has garnered the dubious honour of gathering the most fines in the ACT, peeling 103 tickets from their windscreen between June 26, 2017, and June 25, 2018.
None of the fines have been paid.
"A person with many unpaid fines can enter into an infringement payment plan, a community works or social development plan to have their driver licence and vehicle registration suspensions lifted," an Access Canberra spokeswoman said.
"The sanctions will be reapplied if they default on the payment, work or development program."
The Mazda driver far outstripped the parking fine record-holder for Belconnen. A driver of a red Peugeot 4008 had collected 23 fines worth $3250, of which $1758 had been paid, Access Canberra said.
Woden's most notorious ticket-collector was a red Kia Proceed, the driver of which received 19 fines totalling $2454 while parked in Garran. None of the fines were paid.
In Tuggeranong, a silver Hyundai Santa Fe was slapped with 18 fines worth $2522, $1292 of which was paid.
And a maroon Subaru Forester in Gungahlin was hit with 11 fines worth $1282 - all of which was paid.
"Canberrans who rack up unpaid fines are managed under the provisions of Road Transport legislation," the Access Canberra spokeswoman said.
"This provides for the person’s driver licence, right to drive or vehicle registration to be suspended if infringements are not paid.
"Motorists found by ACT Policing to be driving while they are suspended can be charged and summonsed to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court.
"If the driver and car is from interstate, their right to drive in the ACT can be suspended. The owner of an interstate vehicle can also enter into a payment plan."
Data released to the Sunday Canberra Times last month revealed Civic as the worst for parking offences, with 12,744 fines doled out between December 1 and June 12. Phillip followed with 4075 infringements, then Bruce (2379), Garran (2260) and Belconnen (2079).
