This isn't the start of a nursery rhyme, but life at St Clare of Assisi Primary in Canberra - where all six parents also happened to work as teachers.

On December 19, the school's brood of "teacher kids" will graduate - and there won't be many dry eyes in the staffroom.

While two members of the original dozen, Anna Stincic and her daughter Lara, have since left  St Clare's, the group say it's been smooth sailing over the years. They share rides to school, play sport together and take an annual group photo for the classroom wall.

"[Graduation] will be very emotional...we've been so lucky as parents to be in such a [unique] position, we haven't missed out on anything but life moves on," parent and teacher Katherine Austin said.

So what's it been like growing up with mum and dad at the front of the class?

Katherine's daugther Amelia, who admits to being the "clingiest" of the teacher kids, says she'll miss sneaking into the staff room and scoring free lunches, warm from the microwave.

But she brushed off questions of favouritism, stressing staying out of trouble was almost impossible with parents around.

Ben Sweeney's son Rhys agrees: "They always know."

Lindsay McArthur was not impressed by the long hours dedicated teachers like her mum Annie put in.

"One time we stayed til 7pm. That was just not ok with me," she said.

Belinda Breen said the kids had quickly learnt what they could and couldn't get away with - and what must never be repeated from the staffroom.

"They're good kids, they might hear things they shouldn't sometimes but they've learnt to be discreet," she said.

While most of the six parents had run classes with their own children at one point, the cohort had been largely split up to take the pressure off any one teacher at the school.

"We've stepped back a lot," Ms Austin said.

"When I'm at the front of the class, I'm the teacher, I'm not mum, they understand that."

Mr Sweeney said it had been a privilege to come to work every day with his son. But it won't be over just yet - he still has two younger children at St Clare's.

"It's a sign of a good school if the teachers bring their kids there," Mr Sweeney said.

Ahead of graduation, the girls of the group are excited - Lara will be reunited with them again at St Clare's College next year while the boys are heading to St Mary MacKillop.

"We'll probably keep having to do reunions...maybe they'll take each other to formals," Ms Austin laughed.

"We've all known each other a really long time, even before this [job], so when our kids were all starting at once, it was just too good.

"But that's Canberra."
