A multi-million dollar makeover is planned for one of Canberra's largest suburbs, including an extension of Woolworths and an upgrade of public parks and facilities.

A development application has been lodged to extend the supermarket at Kambah Village, off Primmer Court, and the construction of a new specialty shop and non-retail commercial suites.
The proposal comes as the government announced more than $2 million in upgrades to public areas of the Kambah Village.
Woolworths would be extended by 1754 square metres to a total of 3475 square metres. The expansion will include a 200 square-metre BWS. The application said it would provide a much larger and more modern supermarket layout with the potential to provide more products.
Eight new "specialty shops" are planned at ground level across 853 square metres.
The application says the extension would "modernise and improve" the existing feel of the Kambah Group centre. It also proposals 555 square metres of commercial space, including offices, non-retail commercial uses or health facility to take over level 1.
Plans for a Woolworth's expansion have been around since about 2012. Back then it was reported that the centre would expand to 2500 square metres.
The $1.3 million project also includes a redesign of the carpark, bicycle and motorbike parking, landscaping, signage and associated servicing and engineering works.
Minister for city services Chris Steel said Kambah was one of the largest suburbs in the country with one of the smallest Woolworths.
"The private development to expand Woolworths will complement the $2.3 million in works that the ACT Government is delivering to upgrade the public areas around the shops," Mr Steel said.
'"Over 2,000 people in Kambah signed my petition calling for the shops to be upgraded, so it is great to see significant investment being made by both the ACT Government and by private owners at the shops to get it done."
Upgrades are planned for the existing playground, including new play equipment such as a basket swing, slides, a climbing frame and trampolines, as well as a new shade sail to cover high use play areas.
The government plans also include new irrigated grass areas, gardens, a barbecue shelter and picnic settings.
Mr Steel said other improvements included new wheelchair compliant toilets, an additional nine car parks, a range of seating areas, new waste enclosures, upgrades to the pedestrian lighting and pavements.
