But Canberra illustrator Michael Ashley nailed that bubble, so to speak, a long time ago.
"I created this particular image years ago based partly on the TV show Under the Dome, which in part (I'm sure) was inspired from The Simpsons Movie," Ashley said.
"The phrase 'living in a bubble' isn't new, but every now and then, it gets pulled out from the political archives to supposedly appease the masses living outside the bubble.
"Granted, there are certain elements of truth and, yes, plenty of places in Australia that do it much tougher than we do.
"Still, it's slightly irritating to have politicians use this sound bite to describe the city we live in without being accountable for it."
Ashley's work is on-point Canberra and his prints, books and calendars make great Christmas gifts for the Canberra connoisseur.
His work will be for sale at the Handmade Christmas Market, which is over three days this weekend, at Exhibition Park in Canberra. The market is on Friday 5pm to 9pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
Ashley's also sells under his label, Leafy Sea Dragon, at the Old Bus Depot Market in Kingston which is also gearing up for Christmas by opening Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm the next two weekends, December 8-9 and December 15-16.
