One Canberra family who think that is pretty amazing are the Wrights, of Oxley.

Annabelle Wright, who turns nine on Tuesday, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia when she was three. Her family now very happily consider her cured on the dreadful disease, successfully passing the critical five-year, cancer-free mark.

Mum Cristy said Camp Quality was a great support to the family, especially in those first few fraught months after Annabelle's diagnosis.

In particular, her big brother Oliver, 11, was able to go on trips and outings with Camp Quality as the family rallied around Annabelle.

"It was a very postive distraction during some difficult times,'' she said.

The Wrights also found connection through the charity which provides innovative programs and services to support children aged zero to 13 growing up with cancer, and their families.

"You get very disconnected from your old way of life but through Camp Quality you are regularly in contact with other families who understand what you're going through. They're your people,'' Cristy said.

Mr Moore, who died aged 87 in March, left his Watson home to Camp Quality, to be auctioned on June 23, with all proceeds going to the charity.

Annabelle obviously has some of that same giving spirit. The year three student at Monash Primary is paying it forward, raising $17,000 in the last 12 months for various charities including The Kids Cancer Project. She raised $13,500 for that by walking up Mount Taylor every day for a month late last year. Pretty amazing effort.
