The trio of American brothers - whose 1997 hit Mmmbop went viral before going viral was even a thing (and won a Grammy) - are set to play Canberra Theatre in March in a concert described as “their most ambitious project to date”.
Isaac, Taylor and Zac have ditched the dinky drum set, keyboard and guitars from their early days and are instead playing live with the backing of a full symphony orchestra in a concert entitled String Theory.
The show features songs spanning the band’s entire career from Mmmbop and Where's the Love to This Time Around and includes never-released-to-the-public songs Reaching For The Sky and Siren Call.
Canberra is the second stop on Hanson’s Australian tour, with the boys playing Melbourne, the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Sydney while in the country.
Hanson’s 1997 debut album Middle Of Nowhere spawned a string of Top 40 singles, followed by countless radio hits, five more studio albums, multiple Grammy nominations and record sales exceeding 16 million.
The brothers founded their own independent label - 3CG Records -15 years ago and diversified their world-famous brand to include Hanson Brothers Beer Company and The Hop Jam Beer and Music Festival in their hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
