Snowtunes Music Festival kicks off on the shores of Lake Jindabyne Friday night with acts Violent Soho, The Smith Street Band and Meg Mac set to perform to thousands of partygoers over the two-night event.

Headlining Australia's chilliest music festival is UK group Rudimental, known for their electronic anthems with Ed Sheeran, John Newman, Foxes and Emeli Sandé.
Fresh off the plane from London, Rudimental's Locksmith chats to us about preparing to entertain "crazy" Aussie fans in the Snowys.
As for whether we rock harder than the group's UK fans, Locksmith suggests it might be a tie.
"There are a lot of similarities. Aussies and Brits both love to drink, both are crazy and both are responsive to the Rudimental sound. They aren't that different at all," said Locksmith.
The group enjoys a hearty following here, with Snowtunes being their third Aussie performance this year.
"The feeling has been mutual from the very first single. Australia has opened up their arms to us and welcomed us amazingly. Every time we get the opportunity to come back here, we're eager."
Locksmith notes that matching the energy of our rowdy crowds requires a few pre-show rituals.
"I'm always working out, so that helps pump me up. It's important though to keep a level head before going out because you don't wanna be too pumped up and go too crazy.
"So we'll just start a bit mellow, and then when we're on stage we'll let the music take us away."
Rudimental has collaborated with some of the biggest musical acts in the world, so are they set to discover their next talent down under?
"You know what, I think I'm gonna take the time to look at Australian artists. I heard about Thundamentals the other day. They sound cool.
"I'd like to see how their music and their flow is. They're playing at Jindabyne too."
Rudimental's new album 'Toast to Our Differences', which was originally due for release next week, has just been delayed due to "two tracks holding it up."
The album will feature songs like 'These Days' with Macklemore and Jess Glynne, 'Sun Comes Up' with James Arthur, plus some new crowd-pleasers.
"From the album you can expect the Rudimental sound: live instrumentation mixed with electronic sound. There will be some euphoric anthems.
"Tracks you'd wanna hear at festivals and some tracks you'd wanna let loose to while you're driving to work."
Rudimental hope to return down under next year with their full live show.
For now, they're just hoping that somewhere in the chaos of Snowtunes, they'll find time to hit the nearby slopes. Keep your eyes peeled at Perisher.
