A spokeswoman from the Emergency Services Agency said paramedics were called to the Lomatia Place property on June 18, where they treated a person for “multiple injuries”.

The spokeswoman would not confirm the nature of the injuries as the information was medical in-confidence.

The patient was treated on the scene and then transferred to the Canberra Hospital for further assessment.

On July 2, the same dog, an American Pitbull called "Buddy", attacked a female constable who had gone to the Lomatia Place unit to speak to Matthew John Millard in relation to an allegedly stolen scooter.

Police said the dog had been growling "viciously" at police before Mr Millard opened the door to his unit.

The officer suffered a bite on the hip, calf and hand, the latter causing nerve and tendon damage. She was admitted to hospital and had to have surgery.

Police were forced to use capscium spray, Tasers and one fired his weapon in the attempts to stop the American Pitbull’s attack on their colleague.

Mr Millard, 35, was arrested that day and accused of theft, causing harm to a public official and three counts of causing grievous bodily harm by negligent act or omission.

Police allege he made no efforts to stop his dog escaping the flat or to intervene in the attack.

Officers and neighbours eventually grabbed the dog by the collar and forced him into the unit.

Mr Millard was refused bail. He did not enter pleas.

The court heard authorities had seized the dog.

A spokeswoman from Transport Canberra and City Services said Domestic Animal Services was investigating both incidents and was not able to comment.
