Fortnite has topped the list of the most Googled search terms in Canberra during 2018.
Searches for the video game increased by more than 2000 per cent over the past 12 year, with searches peaking in July.
The world's biggest sporting event for 2018 was also among Canberra's most Googled topics: searches for the FIFA World Cup increased by 700 per cent.
The top-five "rising" searches – which had the biggest increase in searches by percentage – were rounded out by the Australian Open, Facebook and the superhero movie Black Panther, which all rose by more than 500 per cent.
With the Liberal leadership spill dominating the news cycle in 2018, and it happening just up the road on Capital Hill, it was no surprise that Scott Morrison was the most searched for news topic.
Canberrans' other top news searches included searches for David Littleproud, who became Agriculture Minister after Barnaby Joyce resigned last year in the wake of the dual-citizenship scandal.
Gun-control advocate David Hogg, who survived a Florida school shooting earlier this year, was also a top news search, followed by Pauline Hanson and Australian basketball player Joe Ingles.
On YouTube, the most popular search term was the Indian record label and film company T-Series, which became the most-viewed YouTube channel of all time in November.
It was followed by the music video for Childish Gambino's hit song This Is America, YouTube star Emma Chamberlain, Ariana Grande's music video for Thank U, Next and YouTube star Pewdipie.
The most-searched image for Canberrans was Australia, followed by searches for memes, images, Canberra and drawing.
Earlier this month, Google released its top search trends for Australia, with the World Cup being the most-searched item.
It was followed by the Commonwealth Games, Meghan Markle, the late music artist Avicii and bitcoin-trading site Coinspot.
The biggest news events of the year by Google search were the royal wedding, with Thai cave rescue coming in second place, the Wentworth by-election in third, while My Health Record and the Beaumont children made up the top five.
Barnaby Joyce, whose affair with staffer Vikki Campion became public this year, was the most-searched-for Australian on Google, with Ms Campion coming in sixth place.
Scott Morrison and Peter Dutton were the other MPs on the list of most-searched-for Australians, followed by retiring Melbourne Storm fullback Billy Slater and actor Craig McLachlan.
Google also named Meghan Markle as being the most-searched-for global person in Australia this year.
