Sydney lord mayor Clover Moore has identified challenges linked to urban growth, climate change and social inequality among the priorities that should shape the city over the next three decades.

Cr Moore, who has been mayor since 2004, has called for planning to start on "Sustainable Sydney 2050", a broad strategy to inform policies, planning and development across the city.
Plans for the fresh approach follow the council's Sustainable 2030 plan, adopted a decade ago after extensive community consultation.
Cr Moore said that feedback urged the City of Sydney council to take action on climate change, maintain a strong economy, support the arts and connect residents with each other and the world.
It has broadly informed the council's decisions on matters ranging from upgrades to local bikes and bike path networks, to providing more childcare places and affordable housing.
Cr Moore was expected to call on the council to start work on developing a new plan in a mayoral minute on Monday.
"A decade has now passed since our strategic plan was first developed and in that time the effects of urbanisation, globalisation and climate change are increasingly challenging cities around the world, including Sydney, in more urgent ways."
She said rising housing density and major state government projects such as WestConnex had increased pressure on educational and care facilities, as well as on open space, transport and other infrastructure.
Cr Moore said additional challenges from climate change, security threats, rising inequality, homelessness and mental illness would also have "significant impacts on the future of our city and our communities".
The plan would complement Sydney's "resilience strategy", outlined last month, to help residents buffer against major disasters and the niggling stresses of urban life.
Cr Moore said the council would again consult with residents and businesses, government and statutory authorities, visitors, educational institutions and the cultural and creative sectors.
She said the new plan should keep the same framework as Sustainable Sydney 2030, but set new targets for the next three decades.
"We need to consider the kind of city people will inherit in 10, 20 and even 30 years’ time.
"Answers to that question must be informed by the aspirations of our community, relevant and up-to-date research and collaboration with business and other levels of government."
Cr Moore said funding for the review was allocated in the council's 2018-19 budget.
