Police believe a woman who died while skiing at Perisher on Thursday morning suffered a medical episode.
The ski resort released a statement on Thursday afternoon saying it was "saddened by the tragic death of a female skier".
"The Perisher community is very upset by this terrible accident and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the lady's family and friends," the statement said.
A NSW Police spokesperson said emergency services were called to Perisher about 10.40am after reports a woman had been injured.
"NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the woman, but she died at the scene," the spokesperson said.
"Initial enquiries suggest the woman suffered a medical episode.
"A report will be prepared for the coroner."
There are reports the woman may have crashed into rocks after suffering the medical episode at Pretty Valley, but the exact cause of her death is not known at this stage.
