Queenslanders will take centre stage as the core of the cast in Australian musical Priscilla, Queen of the Desert with four Brisbane boys working alongside Ray Meagher.

Young actors Oliver De Los Santos, 9, Mason Kidd, 10, Jordy Campbell, 11 and Flynn Nowlan, 11, are learning from the best while touring the world with the musical as one of the main character's son Benji.
The four boys sharing the role of Benji, the son of one of the main characters, Tick.
"The story really revolves around Tick owning up to responsibilites of fatherhood... and taking up his responsibility but needing some help and encouragement on the way, which he gathers from the friends he takes on that journey with him," resident director David Spencer said.
"So it's fantastic to have these very four natural acting young boys at the beginning of their careers and to be helping them on their way.
"It's really exciting to teach them and exciting to see them really reminding us of how exciting it is to be on the stage and be infront of an audience and be around all of these costumes."
Spencer said the production was a feel-good story with extravagant costumes that would leave audiences amazed.
"I think Brisbane audience can expect a show (where) they’ll leave tapping their toes and singing songs," he said.
"There’s such a great and unexpected heart to the story, it's more than the costumes and the songs and more than the bells and whistles most musicals have.
"There’s a really unexpected beautiful story about what it means to be a friend, what it means to be loved, what it means to have a family and how that differs from one person to another."
Tony Sheldon, who plays main character Bernadette, said he would celebrate his 2000th performance in Brisbane and could not have asked for a better production to mark the achievement.
Sheldon, who had been played the role in workshops for before it was a show production and had lead the original Australian tour, said he had a passion for the part.
"It’s a story most Australians know from the iconic film and... it’s gone something for everyone," he said.
"It has songs that everyone knows and loves from the film and has great comedy because it’s a story of family, a father reunited with a son he has never met."
Priscilla, Queen of the Desert will run in QPAC's Lyric Theatre from Thursday, September 26 to November 4.
