New signage bearing a superannuation company owner’s name has been installed at the top of the building that houses Queensland government departments.

This week, contractors were seen installing a massive Cbus sign atop the 45-storey office tower, 1 William Street, which is home to about 7600 public servants.
The building is privately owned by Cbus and ISPT, and the Queensland government is the main tenant of the building.
No sign spruiking the Queensland government has been placed on top of the building, despite it being the anchor tenant.
In a statement, a government spokesman said: “A tender process for the signage of 1 William Street was undertaken and Cbus was the successful tenderer.
“The Queensland government did not submit a tender in the process for signage of 1 William Street.
“The signage rights to the building provide an income stream to offset costs for the Queensland government as a tenant of 1 William Street.”
A spokesman for Cbus said: “Cbus is proud to provide the Queensland government with world-class accommodation at our flagship 1 William Street property.”
