The most popular baby girl and boy names lodged with the Queensland Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in 2018 have been revealed.
Charlotte and Oliver continue to reign supreme for the fourth year running as the most popular baby names in Queensland.
The popularity of Charlotte has been thought to have been influenced by the birth of Princess Charlotte in 2015, to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath said the most popular baby names in Queensland had remained remarkably consistent since 2015.
"In fact, while Charlotte has been the most popular girl's name for the past four years, you would have to go back to 2011 for Oliver not to be top," she said.
"Back then Jack was the most popular name for boys, before being replaced by Oliver."
There was only one new girl's name making the list in 2018 compared with 2017, while there were three new boy's names.
Willow was the new entry for girls, knocking Ivy out of the top 10.
Leo, Archer and Theodore joined the most popular ranks for boys, replacing Hudson, James and Hunter.
Ava was the second-most popular girl's name, up from third place last year, and William was again the second-most popular name for boys, a place it has held since 2013.
Ms D'Ath said it was interesting to see how the trends in baby names changed over the years.
"People are often curious about what baby names are currently trending and I look forward to what 2019 will bring," she said.
Demographer Mark McCrindle has previously said there was a phenomena known as the "100-year returns", with names that were in vogue 100 years ago coming back.
"Thomas, Oliver, William, James, Levi and Henry and Samuel – this could have been read straight off the list from the early 1900s," he said in 2017.
"So parents, in an effort to find some new names, are returning to the names of grandparents or earlier to find something that's a bit more unique than maybe the current, popular names of today."
While the top 100 names for 2018 have not yet been revealed, they tend to show some more creative choices a bit further down the list.
In 2016, there were girls named Peyton, Aaliyah and Nevaeh (Heaven spelled backwards), while in 2017 there were dozens of girls named Luna.
