Far north Queensland was battered overnight as Tropical Cyclone Trevor lashed the coastline with 300 millimetres of rain and 130km/h winds.

Trees came crashing down as wind gusts exceeded 100km/h for almost seven hours overnight, but by morning the cyclone weakened to category 2 and was set to drop to category 1.
Weatherzone meteorologist Tom Hough said the strongest winds were recorded at Lockhart River just after 6pm on Tuesday, when a 133km/h gust swept through.
In terms of rainfall, Lockhart River again topped the charts with 302 millimetres from 9am Tuesday to 6am Wednesday.
Elsewhere, Low Isles received 88 millimetres, Coen Airport received 72 millimetres and Scherger recorded 61 millimetres.
"Tropical Cyclone Trevor is currently over the Cape York Peninsula and tracking west-south-west," Mr Hough said.
"It is expected to reach the Gulf of Carpentaria either late tonight or tomorrow morning, where it's likely to reintensify.
"At the moment, we are looking at winds in excess of 125km/h at the cyclone's core."
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said there had been no calls for help to the SES from the main areas affected overnight.
However, there had been a few requests from Mossman, well south of Lockhart River and about 80 kilometres north of Cairns.
In Lockhart River, 149 properties were left without power and 131 went dark in Coen, according to Ergon Energy.
TC Trevor made landfall just before 5pm on Tuesday as a category 3 system with residents and emergency services hunkered down awaiting the clean-up operation.
Extra police, swift water rescue crews, supplies and another rescue helicopter were moved into areas between Lockhart River and Cairns before everyone was told to take cover on Tuesday afternoon.
Far North Chief Superintendent Brian Huxley said homes on the east coast were designed to withstand category 4 conditions.
He also reminded residents police were coming down hard on drivers taking on flooded roads, with officers threatening to lay charges against those who put their own lives and those of others at risk.
Torres and Cape Hospital & Health Service spokeswoman Kim Veiwasenavanua said four patients had been evacuated to Cooktown and another to Cairns for essential treatment such as dialysis.
