Four teenage girls have been taken to hospital after overdosing on a prescription medication at a high school on the Gold Coast.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said paramedics were called to Southport State High School on Smith Street at 8.30am on Friday.
He said the incident was reported as an overdose of an unknown substance.
They were taken to the Gold Coast Hospital in a stable condition.
Concerned parents at the school pick up zone told Nine News they were not aware of the incident and teachers did everything they could to stop them from talking to reporters.
The girls in their mid-teens were expected to stay overnight in hospital.
A Queensland Department of Education spokeswoman said they could confirm emergency services attended Southport State High School where four students reported being unwell.
"Due to student privacy issues, no further details can be provided," she said.
"The health and wellbeing of students is the department's highest priority and the school will continue to work with authorities as the incident is investigated."
Gold Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit is investigating.
The school has been contacted for comment.
