Ken Wood, 88, died after a short illness on June 16, leaving a powerful legacy in the swimming community across Queensland, Australia and internationally.
Mr Wood, a three-time Olympic coach, had a long career working with swimming stars including Geoff Huegill and Leisel Jones, Kylie Palmer and Jessica Schipper, retiring only in March this year.
His swimming academy at the Redcliffe City High Performance Centre led the industry, and attracted some of China's finest swimmers to learn from him, creating some controversy.
The Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association paid tribute to Mr Wood on Saturday evening, saying their thoughts and prayers were with Mr Wood's family and friends.
Over the years, Mr Wood's students amassed a remarkable number of records, including 61 international gold medals, 110 Australian records and 85 national championships.
