The sedan crashed on Castle Hill Drive in Murrumba Downs, in the Moreton Bay region, about 2.15pm and left at least two people trapped in the wreckage, according to firefighters.

Paramedics initially reported two males were in critical conditions but police later confirmed the 24-year-old man driving the car had died.

A spokesman could not provide an update on the other passengers' conditions but said a 17-year-old boy was the most seriously injured.

Police are investigating whether excessive speed played a role in the crash.

The other passengers were another 17-year-old boy, an 18-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman.

One of the most seriously injured patients had suffered serious chest injuries and the other a broken pelvis.

Paramedics treated two of the seriously injured teens for leg and abdominal injuries, while the third had several broken bones.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service used the 'jaws of life' to cut at least two teenagers free.

The final entrapped patient was removed from the car just under an hour after the crash.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

The Queensland Ambulance Service initially said there were five men in the car, all aged in their mid-late teens.
