Mr King, who owns BK Bucking Bulls, had donated some of his rodeo cattle to the Woodford Show which was held at the showgrounds on Friday and Saturday, Queensland Country Life reports.

Mr King, 58, was reversing his prime mover with a cattle trailer attached about 9.20pm at the showgrounds on Neurum Road in Woodford.

Police said the driver opened his door and stood on the steps leading up to the cab. He then lost his footing, fell under the vehicle and was run over by the still-reversing truck.

Woodford Show Society President Val Reichle said they were assisting police with their investigations and passed on their condolences to the family of the man involved.

Tributes were posted online for the Mundubbera man, including one from rider Lane Mellers.

“Extremely sad loss happened last night,” he said.

“Brian King, thank you for everything you have done for me. You were one of the wildest, funny and loving personalities I’ve ever been around growing up. You will be missed and we all love you!!”

Just a week earlier, Mr Mellers had become the only person to ride Mr King’s bull, Game On, who was heading into retirement unridden from 100 outings.

Said 2018 NRA Rodeo Queen Creedence Donoghue on Facebook: “He was a great contractor to the National Rodeo Association and will be dearly missed within the rodeo family and outside by the people who knew him.”

Robyn Maeyke said: “Condolences to the family of this well known and respected member of our community.”

The Woodford Show had been held at the showgrounds over the past two days and wrapped up on Saturday night, with a rodeo starting at 6.30pm following a fireworks display.

The Forensic Crash Unit has examined the scene and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland were assisting with the police investigation. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
