A driver seen saving his dog from a fire that engulfed a mini van and trailer containing gas cylinders in north Queensland has been taken to Rockhampton Hospital.

Police were called to a fire just before 11am on Thursday at Kunwarara, near Marlborough, north-west of Rockhampton.
Officers were conducting patrols when they spotted a large blaze burning at Grosvenor Park across Kunwarara Road.
As they were directing traffic around the smoke, police said they heard a loud crash within the haze after a mini van collided with the rear of a truck.
Both vehicles emerged from the smoke before the minivan lost control and veered off the road, just metres from where the fire burned out of control.
The mini van became stuck in the grass and officers moved quickly to help the 74-year-old male driver and his dog before the van was destroyed by flames.
