A Brazilian-born French national was arrested on July 12 after detectives searched his home on Leichhardt Street at Spring Hill.
Police alleged they found more than $22,000 in cash, laptops and hard drives, five ATM deep-insert skimming devices, two false ATM ceiling panels with attached cameras and electronics such as SD cards and batteries.
It was further alleged an electronic card reader and writer, several blank iTunes cards and gift cards and bags of tools and electronic equipment linked to card skimming were found.
Detective Senior Constable Sarah Boniface said this was the first successful attempt of a deep skimming device in Queensland.
"The deep insert is a lot more technical and a lot harder to do," she said.
Senior Constable Boniface said the device was installed on three ATMs in the Brisbane area.
She said 11 banks were affected by the skimming and police were seeking restitution of about $60,000.
The man, who was studying personal training, entered the country on his student visa in January and the earliest offence he was charged with was in February.
Police charged the 31-year-old man with 61 offences including obtaining identification information, dealing with identification information, stealing, possessing tainted property and possessing things with the intent to forge documents.
His matter was mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday and would return to court on October 3 for a summary hearing.
