A police spokesman said the search was suspended pending further investigation.
Earlier: Police are searching for a man following reports he was seen jumping into the water at Sandstone Point about 4.15am Monday.
Police were called to Bribie Island Road after a motorist reported seeing the man jump off the bridge and into the river.
An extensive search of the area involving water police officers, divers and a helicopter is underway.
So far police have not been able to find the man.
