Scepticism remains over the Supreme Court's decision to allow Fardon to leave the supervised accommodation, where he has lived for the past five years, and live among the general public.

Questions are still unanswered regarding how closely the 70-year-old is being monitored by police.

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation said the public should not rely solely on the justice system to protect Queensland children after the supervision order was lifted last Wednesday.

A seven-day non-publication order was made on the case to allow for the logistics of Fardon leaving his supervised residence and him finding a new home, to happen without scrutiny from the media.

"It’s tempting [to] use social media to let [the] world know how angry & sad this makes you. Instead, we invite you to use this opportunity to educate," the foundation said via Twitter on Wednesday.

"Sadly, there are people who sexually offend against children in our communities. Very few are reported, even fewer are convicted and only a fraction become national headlines.

"Relying solely on the criminal justice system has never been and will never be our only chance at protecting our children.

"Talk about how you will always listen, believe, and support a child to be safe.

"Let’s direct our anger and sadness towards doing something productive that makes a difference in the lives of children."

Queensland Law Society president Bill Potts said Fardon's physical and sexual abuse from a young age created the convicted sex offender.

"Shortly after he was born, his mother disappeared and his father gave him to, what he described as, drinking buddies," Mr Potts said.

"From the age of seven through to the age of 14 he was raped on an almost daily basis by his cousin or one of his brothers. His stepfather was described as a very violent man.

"I say this not for sympathy for Mr Fardon, but to understand that monsters are created."

Police Commissioner Ian Stewart, speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, would not reveal how regularly officers would check in with Fardon, despite a timeframe having been agreed upon.

Mr Potts said while Mr Stewart's secrecy opened the door for speculation, the public would just have to trust the police to watch Fardon and ensure he did not breach any of his reporting conditions.

"The public can be assured that Mr Fardon is the most watched man in Queensland and because of that, I would suspect that if they detect any breach or any potential breach, they will come down on him like a tonne of bricks," he said.

"Where there is an absence of information, speculation takes its place ... we have to trust that they [police officers], are using all of their powers and all of their resources, will fulfil their primary role which is the protection of the public."

Mr Potts said Fardon had been subject to rigorous psychological counselling and he was absolutely confident the community was safe, despite the convicted sex offender's leash being loosened.

Another admission made by Mr Stewart was that Fardon was not required to wear a GPS tracker.

LNP leader Deb Frecklington said Labor should have adopted the LNP's proposed laws, which included GPS monitoring for repeat sexual offenders until they died.

"I am deeply concerned that Fardon has been walking free on the streets for the last week and nobody could say anything. Queenslanders have a right to know," she said.

"I also want mandatory GPS tracking of offenders from the day they are released to the day they die, because I don't trust paedophiles to 'self-report' to police."

The parliamentary committee considering the LNP's Protecting Queenslanders from Violent and Child Sex Offenders Amendment bill is due to report in March.

Fardon was first convicted in 1967, then aged 18, for sexual abuses offences against a 10-year-old girl, and in 2003 became the first person to be jailed in Queensland indefinitely under new laws targeting repeat sex offenders.
