Jacob Mabb suffered serious head injuries in the November 25 accident that put him in a coma and he was flown to Brisbane with his parents on Friday morning.

Heartfelt tributes have been posted for the keen surfer and rugby player.

In a message on Facebook, fellow surfer Robbie Sherwell said Mr Mabb was “an awesome young man”.

“He was so loved and respected by so many, I am so shattered such a lovely young man! I am so proud and happy that we got to know you like a son,” Mr Sherwell wrote.

“You are gone now, but we will have you in our hearts forever.”

Friend Sam Ingham, who helped raise more than $50,000 to bring Mr Mabb home after the incident, described his friend as “one of the most gentle and generous people to have ever lived”.

Mr Mabb’s accident comes six weeks after Perth man Callan Everts died in Bali after crashing his scooter.
