Police said the 25-year-old victim was sitting in his rented Nissan X-Trail at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Peninsula Drive at Surfers Paradise just before 3am when four men in a stolen 2005 Mitsubishi Magna parked in front of his SUV.
One of the men entered the Nissan and threatened him with a knife.
Police said the victim exited the Nissan and a second man stole his car keys, iPhone and watch before the duo drove off.
The man wasn't hurt.
