Traffic delays have come to an end on the Story Bridge in Brisbane following a police incident that forced the closure of several lanes in Kangaroo Point.

Police said the incident was resolved before 6pm and road closures were slowly lifted after the closure of the left and centre lanes heading northbound before 4pm on Thursday.

Queensland Traffic Metro said the left and centre lanes heading northbound have been closed, with delays building quickly in the area.
They said lanes were reduced in both directions and there was congestion on Brunswick Street, Ann Street, Gipps Street, Main Street, River Terrace, Shafston Avenue and Wynnum Road.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area if possible.
