One person dead, two injured in Ferntree Gully crash

A man has died and two people have been injured after two cars collided in Melbourne's east.

A man was driving a silver Mitsubishi sedan when it hit a white Toyota Camry at the intersection of Burwood Highway and Glenfern Road in Ferntree Gully.

The crash occurred around 10.50pm Saturday night.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, who has yet to be formally identified by police, was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

He was the sole occupant of the car.

Two people from the Toyota Camry were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

A man in his thirties was sent to Maroondah Hospital with injuries to his arms, and a woman in her twenties was taken to the Alfred with chest injuries.

She remains in a stable condition.

This is the 182nd death on Victorian roads this year.
