Arson in northern Perth suburb guts car, causing $40,000 damage

Police are investigating a car being set on fire in the Perth suburb of Koondoola, just north of Mirrabooka, on Tuesday morning.

The Mazda CX7 was parked in the driveway of a home on Koondoola Avenue when it was deliberately set alight, about 3.30am.

The fire gutted the vehicle and extensively damaged a Hyundai LM wagon parked beside it, causing an estimated $40,000 damage.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services extinguished the fire.

Joondalup detectives urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of the area around the time of the fire to come forward.

Rewards of up to $50,000 are available for information that leads to apprehension and conviction of an arsonist.
