Man wanted over unprovoked attack on elderly man in Perth's north

An elderly man has been left shaken after he was assaulted by a stranger while driving in Perth's north on Tuesday.

The 74-year-old was driving his blue Saab west on Yirrigan drive in Mirrabooka when a man stepped onto the street.

He stood in the middle of the road, and forced the man to stop his car.

The offender then walked up to car and thumped the hood of the vehicle with his hand.

The man threatened the driver and when the victim got out of his car to try and speak with him, he was assaulted.

He was hit in the face several times and suffered bruising to his face and jaw.

The offender left the scene and was last seen walking along Yirrigan Drive towards Farrier Road.

Police have released vision and a description of the offender, who is believed to be between 25 and 30 years old, is dark-skinned with a medium build, about 175cm tall with short black hair and facial stubble.

It's understood he was wearing a grey checked long-sleeve shirt, a white T-shirt and long pants.
