ACT, NT speakers petition senate for equal rights amid talk of statehood

The Northern Territory parliament's speaker has acknowledged becoming a state is the only way to stop Commonwealth interference in territory law-making, as politicians from the ACT and Northern Territory petitioned the federal parliament to extricate the issue of territory rights from euthanasia.
