Just days after he was accused of harassing an 18-year-old interstate and suspended from his party, Mr Costigan was expelled at a meeting of the LNP's state executive at its Brisbane headquarters.

And while LNP leader Deb Frecklington has called for him to quit politics, which would trigger a byelection, Mr Costigan vowed to stay in the Queensland Parliament.

Mr Costigan has also hinted he would contest next year's October state election, tweeting with the hashtag #costo2020.

The 47-year-old former rugby league commentator was first elected as the LNP's member for Whitsunday in 2012 and holds the seat with margin of less than 1 per cent.

Mr Costigan, who strenuously denied the allegations, was contacted for comment.

He has not yet spoken about whether he will remain as an independent on the crossbench when Parliament resumes later this month, or join another party.

However, no minor party in Queensland has so far announced that they would accept him.

One Nation adviser James Ashby said the party had not made any approach to Mr Costigan to join Pauline Hanson's ranks and did not intend to.

One Nation already has a sitting MP in Queensland, Mirani MP Stephen Andrew.

Katter's Australian Party Queensland leader Robbie Katter said: "We're not a stop shop for disendorsed Libs or Labor party members."

"The MP's voting record on issues like our crocodile bill and category H firearms isn't great," he said.

"If he can vote more in the interests of his electorate we may be more interested."

The Greens have no plans to reach out to Mr Costigan.

Attempts were made to contact United Australia Party leader Clive Palmer.

As of Friday afternoon, Mr Costigan's page on the Queensland Parliament website had been updated to list him as an independent.

On Wednesday night, it was revealed an 18-year-old woman had complained about "disgusting behaviour" by Mr Costigan, while a second woman later came forward with allegations about an incident which occurred when she was 19 years old.

Mr Costigan, who in 2017 unsuccessfully challenged for deputy leader of the party, had arranged to stay at the 18-year-old's grandparents' home while on an interstate trip.

The grandparents left the home early in the morning and the teen arrived about 12.15pm to collect some of her things, according to the complaint.

She was surprised to find Mr Costigan in the house alone and shirtless as she had just showered, the mother said.

"His behaviour from that point was extraordinary," her mother wrote in an email to the LNP.

"My daughter was terrified the entire time she was there."

It is understood the teenager was holding onto a duress alarm in her handbag.

Mr Costigan has described the allegations as baseless and a "stitch-up".

At a press conference, Mr Costigan showed journalists photos of selfies he took with the 18-year-old woman, claiming she looked "happy as Larry".

"Nothing bad happened, nothing sinister happened," he said.

"She didn't look anything in terms of intimidation or concern or worry."

Ms Frecklington said she did not believe Mr Costigan deserved to represent the people of Whitsunday.

"He has disgraced the office and he should go now," she said.

LNP acting president David Hutchinson acknowledged removing a sitting MP would make the challenge of winning the next state election more difficult.

"However, we expect our elected representatives to meet the highest standards," he said.

The move strengthens Labor's majority over the opposition.

Labor holds 48 seats, the LNP has 38, KAP has three, the Greens and One Nation have one each and there are two independents, including Mr Costigan.
