Manager of opposition business Jarrod Bleijie raised eyebrows by wearing cufflinks with the letters "F" and "U", which he later explained related to his affinity for House of Cards, in which the character Frank Underwood wears a similar pair.

After a break in hearings, Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath said she would formally complain to Speaker Curtis Pitt, arguing it could amount to intimidation of a witness.

Ms D'Ath later withdrew her complaint and referred it to the committee.

Labor MP Peter Russo also wrote to Mr Pitt, alleging he was pushed on the shoulder by LNP MP James Lister during the Legal Affairs and Community Safety Committee, claiming it was an assault and therefore contempt.

In response, Mr Pitt said the incidents should have been raised immediately and considered by the committee, instead of by him.

"Whilst the wearing of inappropriate clothing or the use of props as a stunt can constitute unparliamentary behaviour, it is difficult to sustain an allegation of intimidation [in relation to the cufflinks] when everyone directly involved in the hearing appeared to be oblivious to the matter at the time," he said.

"Matters of order and unparliamentary language or unparliamentary conduct, should generally be dealt with immediately or as soon as practicable. Delay signals that the complaint is an afterthought."

Mr Pitt also reminded MPs of the importance of "maintaining the dignity" of the estimates process, in terms of questions, behaviour and adherence to standing orders.

"There is nothing wrong with the estimates hearing process, but the best system will not work if the people in the system adopt the wrong spirit," he said.

"For the system to work as intended, all members need to take a mature approach to the hearings.

"Members are put on notice that the use of props, framing irrelevant questions and frivolous or tedious points of order which only seek to disrupt the flow of proceedings or unsustainable claims and counter-claims, will be dimly viewed by the Queensland community.

"All members must strive to do better."

On Friday, there was a fiery outburst during estimates when LNP member for Callide Colin Boyce began wheeling out a tape measure during a description of the size of planned tribute to former deputy premier Terry Mackenroth.

Members are banned from using props during sittings of Parliament and estimates.

There were numerous interruptions during last week's hearings with points of order by government MPs, such as about the use of "imputations", or the way questions were phrased.

But State Development Minister Cameron Dick said there was no attempt by backbenchers to run interference for ministers.

"We take the estimates process very seriously as a government," he said.

"But if the opposition wants better answers, they should ask better questions ... They need to do their research, they need to do their homework.

"Members of Parliament should obey the standing orders of the Parliament, if they don't like the standing orders, there is a process to change them."

Mr Dick said ministers left themselves open for questioning for "hours on end".

Estimates hearings continue on Tuesday with the Health, Disability Services and Domestic Violence portfolios.
