Twelve long months since a devastating ankle injury kept her out of the Queanbeyan Tigers' fairytale run to the flag. But finally, she has a chance to make amends.

The Tigers will hunt for back-to-back titles when they meet the Eastlake Demons in the AFL Canberra women's first grade grand final at Manuka Oval on Sunday night.

Taylor admits she will wake up pretty nervous on game day, but the chance for redemption will far outweigh the butterflies in her stomach.

She tore five ligaments in her ankle during last year's thrilling elimination final win over the Ainslie Tricolours which ultimately shattered her hopes of playing in the Tigers' stunning premiership win.

Taylor watched her triumphant teammates cry tears of joy on the biggest day of the year, but it did little to end her own heartache.

"I honestly cried, but it wasn’t out of happiness, it was out of devastation," Taylor said.

"I was in a moon boot for six weeks, couldn’t do any full weight bearing for eight weeks after that. It was a very long process to say the least. [It was frustrating], not even because I’d lost so much fitness.

"Even kicking again, because it was my dominant foot, kicking and everything was just painful."

The injury lit a fire in Taylor, and Tigers coach Cheyne Webster says the rising star has made huge sacrifices to force her way into the club's seniors side on a regular basis.

She's fitter, she's stronger, and she's training the house down. She hasn't missed a game due to injury all year... "although I got concussed in the first game, so that was fun," Taylor laughs.

If anyone needed proof of just how far she has come over the past 12 months, Taylor was named best on ground in Queanbeyan's preliminary final boilover against the Belconnen Magpies last week.

She looks a shadow of the league tag player she once was, instead making a name for herself at Queanbeyan just as her brother Jason has done in the men's first grade side. If that wasn't enough, their parents Daryl and Karen are sports trainers at the club.

Taylor's family is literally a part of the club, but she feels like it goes beyond her brother and parents.

"Last year this whole ‘culture matters’ thing started and it has just grown from then. [Tigers general manager Adrian Pavese] always says we’re a family, and it basically is like a second family. I absolutely love coming here," Taylor said.

"We have heaps of people coming from other clubs and saying they’re so happy that they moved, because this is like a community in itself and they had nothing like that at their other clubs. Them saying that is a testament to us."

While the Tigers' first grade women's side hunt for back-to-back titles, Queanbeyan's second grade and Rising Stars outfits will face Ainslie in their respective grand finals, while the women's second grade team is still alive. It's little wonder they won the club championship.

The women's side has to contend with an Eastlake outfit eyeing first grade titles in the men's and women's competitions.

"The club is really excited, especially given the first grade men’s will also be in the grand final. It’s very exciting to have two of us there. We’ll be very excited if both of us win," Demons captain Rohana Prince said.

"Queanbeyan are a very tough opponent. Grand final match day brings out another side in people and everyone goes in really hard for the ball, everything gets a bit harder. With the energy that is going to be there, it’s going to be really good to get into it."

AFL CANBERRA GRAND FINALS

First grade - Ainslie Tricolours v Eastlake Demons at Manuka Oval, 2.30pm.

Second grade - Queanbeyan Tigers v Ainslie Tricolours at Manuka Oval, 12pm.

Rising Stars - Queanbeyan Tigers v Ainslie Tricolours at Manuka Oval, 9.30am.

Women's first grade - Eastlake Demons v Queanbeyan Tigers at Manuka Oval, 6pm.
