Saints seek ruck options

ST KILDA has emerged as a possible new home for Carlton ruck Robert Warnock as the Saints explore back-up options for Ben McEvoy in case the trade for young Gold Coast ruck Tom Hickey falls over.

The Saints are eager for support for McEvoy and have expressed interest in the Blues ruck as talks slowed over the move of Hickey.

Meanwhile, Melbourne ruck-forward Stefan Martin will fly to Brisbane today for an interview.

The Lions and Demons are yet to contemplate what he would be worth in trade terms, waiting on the outcome of today's meetings.

Should the Lions be interested in Martin, they have picks 33 and 53 available. But Martin is probably not worth 33 and Melbourne would probably expect more than 53.

The possibility of a Martin move might become tied into negotiations between Melbourne, North Melbourne and Port Adelaide over Cameron Pedersen's move from North to Melbourne and Ben Jacobs' shift back to Victoria.

North and Port are struggling to reach a deal on Jacobs and the pick North might receive for Pedersen could come into calculations.
