The microscope will be on Greene and his "kung-fu" kick during the Greater Western Sydney Giants' AFL semi-final clash with the Collingwood Magpies at the MCG on Saturday.

While Collingwood defender Brayden Maynard says Greene best prepare for a forceful response if there is a repeat of the incidents that came under fire last week, Giants young gun Tim Taranto says his teammate won't be flustered.

He says Greene has brushed off the controversy as the bona fide match-winner sets his sights on giving Magpies defenders headaches.

"He’s all good. We haven’t really looked into it at all to be honest, there hasn’t really been much talk about it. He’s fine, he’s ready to go this week," Taranto said.

"He’s such a great player and I’m sure he’ll put some worries into the opposition, so it’s good having him. You just have to get it down to them and they can do the rest.

"It was great having Toby back on the weekend, we all know how good of a player he is and we all love playing with him."

While the playing group might not have delved too deep into the topic of Greene's studs-up approach, Giants coach Leon Cameron admits he has had a few words with the star forward.

"The main one is we don't want to give away any free kicks, and if we're giving away free kicks then he needs to make sure when he goes into that contest, it's fair and reasonable," Cameron said.

"I understand this is magnified because of Toby and because of the situation we're in, and the finals... but right now he's not going to be able to flick a switch and go 'I can change just like that'.

"What I have said to Toby, and Toby totally agrees, is that he doesn't want to give away any free kicks. But equally, he's a really smart player, and he knows a lot of situations. He loves challenges, and I'm sure he's going to take up the challenge against the Pies on the weekend."

The Giants have called on experienced campaigner Ryan Griffen after superstar midfielder Josh Kelly was cruelly ruled out of the sudden-death showdown through injury.

They have quickly adopted a next-man-in mentality having already battled back from an injury crisis that threatened to leave their season on life support at the halfway point.

Taranto says his early exposure to senior football has been "amazing" and he is determined to edge closer to the last Saturday in September with an upset of the Magpies on their home turf.

"I think I’ve built on last year, which is what I aimed to do during the pre-season, just prove myself a bit more in every area which I think I have done. I’ve still got another level to go to eventually but so far I’m pretty happy," Taranto said.

"Last year it was my first game ever at the ‘G against the [Richmond] Tigers in the prelim, so that was a big eye-opener. I’m just happy to get another chance to run out at the ‘G in front of a huge crowd so I’m excited.

"We played the Pies down there in round two and got the job done, so we’re very confident we can go down there and just play our footy."
