Garbin successfully completed the Swifts' main training session on Thursday and only needs to get through Friday's captain's run to prove her fitness to coach Briony Akle.

An MRI scan last week on Garbin's foot revealed bone bruising which ruled her out of the Swifts' loss to the Melbourne Vixens, and she wore a moon boot up until Monday.

She would be a massive inclusion for the Swifts, having played a key role in helping her side down their Sydney rivals for the first time in round three, coming off the bench to shoot 17 from 18 including a final-minute match winner.

The 21-year-old has until late Saturday afternoon to prove her fitness, and Akle was confident she would welcome her young shooter back into the fold.

"She looked like she's pretty good, so fingers are still crossed," Akle said.

"She's definitely grown into coming on when we need her to come on, we really missed her last week. Hopefully she is fine and she can play that role if we need to inject her at any time."

Garbin could only watch on helplessly as Akle's side slumped to a second straight loss last weekend, slipping further out of touch with the Super Netball top four.

They now sit seven points adrift of the fourth-placed Queensland Firebirds and are facing the prospect of needing to win their remaining five games to guarantee a finals spot.

"Absolutely it's must-win [against the Giants], you can't keep leaving it until the week after and the week after and the week after because it's not going to come any more," Akle said.

"We're very well aware that it's crunch time and we need to turn up focused. The extra energy is a fact that it's a Sydney derby and I'm sure internal motivation is to obviously beat our team from across the road so it is do or die for us.

"We need wins rather than just saying that we'll rely on anyone else to win, we actually just need to win our games and get maximum points as much as we can."

The in-form Giants head into the clash full strength after their bruising win over the Adelaide Thunderbirds in Canberra last weekend.

Captain Kim Green is set to return from a calf complaint, while Serena Guthrie and Sam Poolman have shaken off head knocks.

"If we shut down Sam [Wallace}, they've got Sophie that they're more than happy to bring on and do damage as well," Poolman said.

"Last time we played them Sophie came on and she is just a different shooter that also is really good. This week I'll be looking at some video footage at the last couple of times they've played, they would have changed and got better since round three as well."
