Kuridrani has two games to impress Wallabies coach Michael Cheika and convince the Test mentor he deserves the vacant outside centre spot after injury ended Samu Kerevi's season.

Kerevi has been ruled out for up to 16 weeks, opening the door for Kuridrani to add to his 58 Tests if he can prove he is back to his devastating best.

Wallabies coaches have asked Kuridrani to inject himself into games and improve his communication in the crucial No. 13 jersey, starting with his job to help the ACT Brumbies beat the Waikato Chiefs on Saturday.

A training block with no game time last month has helped Kuridrani drop to 106 kilograms, and coach Dan McKellar backed the powerful Fijian to make his mark in Hamilton.

"I thought Tevita was excellent last week and before the Wallabies series," McKellar said.

"He's dropped a few kilos as well and just looks that little bit sharper. He's always going to have that power anyway and run his lines well to disrupt the defensive line.

"But the way he's come back, being a bit sharper with his footwork and speed will certainly make a difference there.

"He's just going to perform the same way he did last week and do it consistently. Tevita's been trying really hard this year to get himself in the game but unfortunately hasn't seen the ball.

"He's adjusted to the style we want to play and he's certainly come around in the last couple of months."

The Brumbies have made just three changes to the team that beat the Wellington Hurricanes in Canberra last weekend, snapping an almost three-year losing streak against New Zealand opponents.

They need to beat the Chiefs in Hamilton to be any hope of forcing their way into play-off contention for the sixth consecutive year.

Kuridrani has been perhaps the most consistent Brumbies player of the past five years of finals rugby, continually running into brick wall defences in his 103 Super Rugby games.

Kuridrani has played almost every minute of every game since breaking into the Brumbies, missing just eight of a possibly 104 games since the start of 2013.

His try-scoring output, however, is down this year after crossing the line just twice in 14 games. The Brumbies backs are keen to get him early ball to help him find his spark.

"He's such a damaging ball runner that teams focus so much on him and he still seems to bend or break the line," said fullback Tom Banks.

"That's definitely been a part of our game, to get him front-foot ball. He's come back [from Wallabies] raring to go, he's really hungry and you can really tell that when you see him at training and in the games.

"He's a quiet sort of bloke, but when he wants the ball you certainly know about it. It's good to see him fire again."

The Brumbies have picked the same back line for the fourth game in a row after spending the early part of the season trying to find the right mix of combinations.

The decision to pick and stick is paying dividends, with the Brumbies scoring 19 tries in the past four games, including three wins in a row.
