Dragisic will make her rugby comeback when Canberra hosts the next round of the national competition this weekend, linking with several players from different sporting backgrounds to chase a home win.

University of Canberra coach Dave Grimmond has recruited players from netball, rugby league, touch and soccer to boost the team's chances of success this season.

Dragisic was the player of the year in the Katrina Fanning Shield this year, starring for the Queanbeyan Blues with 15 tries and 122 points for her debut rugby league season.

Ngawai Eyles plays netball for the Canberra Giants, Bree Toze has made the transition from touch and Sammie Wood has played for Newcastle and Canberra in the W-League soccer competition.

Dragisic was a Wallaroos squad member two years ago but quit rugby union when she lost her love for the game.

"I just like playing for fun ... just enjoying footy for what it is," Dragisic said.

"I don't like taking things too seriously. I originated from touch and slowly made my way into contact [sports], which was scary at first.

"I think my time in rugby league I learnt to take the pressure off myself. I'm treating footy as a game, not taking it too seriously and I think I will probably benefit from that. I won't beat myself up, just enjoy it.

"It's good we've got girls from so many different backgrounds. It is hard to get used to playing with different groups of girls, but I'm sure the variety will make us better."

Tuggeranong Viqueens powerhouse Tayla Stanford will play for Canberra this weekend as well as ACT Brumbies Super W rookie of the year Michaela Leonard.

Wallaroos rookie Georgia O'Neill will also bolster the group after making her international debut last month, and Australian sevens player Yasmin Meakes will also get valuable game time as she pushes for more world series action.

The diverse playing backgrounds of the squad made it hard for Grimmond to get continuity in his squad because of training clashes and different season schedules.

But the return of former Royals flyer Dragisic will give Canberra some try-scoring power as they look to improve on their fifth-place finish at the competition opener in Tasmania two weeks ago.

"I don't get to play sevens much, so to play it on a competitive platform is really cool," Dragisic said.

"I'm keen to give it a go. I'd been playing union for four years and I wasn't learning much ... but the girls have been sending me messages to get me to [sevens] training and I'm excited to give it a crack."
