That's it from me..

Hope you enjoyed the Wallabies win. Next up: Los Pumas on the Gold Coast next week. Good luck and good night.

Time to wrap it up..

Some key learnings before I log off..

  • Didn't really get to see the Toomua-Beale partnership work. It wasn't a night for expansive play by the backs
  • Taniela Tupou should probably start at tighthead prop next week .. if he's fit. Struggled with a neck injury at the end
  • That will be a massive morale boosting win
  • To come back in: David Pocock, Israel Folau and Adam Coleman. All of a sudden a bit of light at the end of the tunnel.
  • Is Cheika safe? That's one win from the past four Tests. Is it enough to silence the calls for his head? The Wallabies need to beat Argentina next week to ensure they snuff them out.

Michael Hooper speaks

The skipper: "I'm proud of the way the guys got that done. It comes back to that word we've been using a lot: resilience."

The Wallabies hang on!!!

Full-time: Somehow, it's over!! Bernard Foley comes up with an intercept as the Springboks pushed for the win. I don't know how the ball ended up in his arms, but it did, and Michael Cheika will let out a massive sigh of relief!

WALLABIES 23 bt SOUTH AFRICA 18

PENALTY to the Springboks with time almost out

80: The Wallabies' defence holds strong, but the Springboks get a penalty for offside. They opt for the scrum..stay tuned!

TMO decision pending...NO TRY!

78: It looks like a loose pass touches Marx's hand. A double knock-on, first one by Wallabies. So a South Africa scrum. Game on!

Is it a try?!?!??!

78: The Springboks edge closer and closer to the line and one of their big boys looks like he's across! We're going to the TMO to check if there was a knock-on in the lead up and whether he get the ball on the line. Wowzers!! If it's a try, it's going to be a tough kick to win it from out wide.

What a jinx!

76: Commentators curse. The Wallabies' scrum gives away a penalty and now the Springboks pump it into the corner, and have a lineout 12m out from the Wallabies' line! What a game changer. Tom Banks tried to knock it back into play, but had his feet on the line.

It's starting to slow down

76: The Wallabies scrum has been looking a million bucks since Taniela Tupou came on. Really given the Wallabies a hard edge there, and they've got the advantage. Springboks can't hold it!

FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!

70: The Springboks come flying through from the kick-off and take Michael Hooper in the air. It wasn't really dangerous, but worthy of a penalty. It blows up and players come running from everywhere!! Push and shove, jumper grabbing, verbal jabs. Love it. A bit of fire!
