Sio welcomed the ACT Brumbies' decision to recruit a world-class player in his position for the 2019 season, confident the duo's rivalry will help them both chase World Cup selection.

The Wallabies will feature an all-Brumbies front row in their Bledisloe Cup match against New Zealand on Saturday, with Sio teaming up with hooker Folau Faingaa and tighthead Allan Alaalatoa.

Sio says the clash against the All Blacks and the end of year tour of Europe is a chance for Australian rugby to build momentum for the World Cup in Japan next year.

But the Brumbies' recruitment strategy is already building momentum, adding Slipper to their roster to to add depth to the front row and to give the 86-Test Wallaby a Super Rugby lifeline.

Slipper was exiled by the Queensland Reds after testing positive to cocaine, but he will get a second chance in Canberra and will compete with Australia's premier loosehead.

Slipper and Sio have played 26 Tests together, including the 2015 World Cup final, although they haven't been in the same Wallabies team since the end of 2016 after injuries and off-field controversy stalled Slipper's international career.

"I think it's an amazing opportunity for the Brumbies, [Slipper] and myself as well," Sio said.

"When we were in the Wallabies together we pushed each other to be better and we were very competitive. I see that being the same at the Brumbies.

"He's going to add a lot of the group and maybe we didn't quite have the depth this year in that position. So it's going to be great to be competing with Slips for that starting jersey.

"I'm looking forward to it, we're good friends and get along really well. I'm happy to have him down in Canberra and it's only going to be better for me ... keep fuelling the fire and pushing myself to get better."

Sio is now one of the Wallabies' most experienced players, reaching his 50-Test milestone in South Africa last month and will be flanked by his Brumbies teammates in Yokohama on Saturday.

He has started on the bench just 11 times in his 51 games for Australia and is confident the Wallabies can stabilise the ship after some disastrous performances.

The Wallabies have won three of their past 11 Tests and were in danger of imploding after a woeful first half against Argentina. The players rallied to save Michael Cheika's job, and now the long-term goal is World Cup success.

"That second half was a step in the direction we want to go," Sio said of the come-from-behind win against Argentina.

"It's always tough mentally, physically and emotionally, but you've got to ride it out. Not everything will go our way, so we have stay true to each other and stick with it.

"It doesn't get any easier. We've got a Test against the best team in the world and then the spring tour. Individually we have to look to get better.

"It's another opportunity for us to create momentum to where we want to end and where we want to end up. To be the best you have to consistently beat the best, and our next task is against the All Blacks."

Sio has also been impressed by the rise of housemate Folau Faingaa, who has emerged as a World Cup hooker option despite playing just 13 Super Rugby games.

"It's been amazing. I've had a first-hand experience of his journey and I'm proud of him from taking his opportunity," Sio said.

"I just reiterate to him to keep getting better, better than you were yesterday. Keep pushing yourself and I'm glad I'm there to watch him."
