Western Sydney Wanderers' exciting winger Youssouf Hersi has re-signed with the A-League club for a further 12 months.
The 30-year-old, who continued his stellar season with a brace of goals in the Wanderers' 4-2 win over Adelaide at Hindmarsh Stadium on Sunday, has now committed for the 2013-14 A-League season.
Hersi had barely played in the previous two years following a knee reconstruction he underwent in Holland, and credited the coaching staff at the A-League club for his remarkable resurgence.
"The coaches have helped me a lot after my injury (knee reconstruction)," he said in a statement.
"They have helped me and supported me. (Head coach) Tony (Popovic) and (assistant) Ante (Milicic) have been great to me and they had faith in me."
Popovic said Hersi had quickly developed into an integral part of the success of the Wanderers, who have risen to third on the ladder in their debut season.
Hersi said they still had grand plans for the current campaign, but he was already eyeing success in the future as well.
"I want to win something with the Wanderers if not this year then next year and beyond," he said.
"It is hard for us coming together from different places but we are good now and things are working very well."
