More than 6000 fans packed into temporary stands at Lyneham to watch Australia beat the Ukraine in a five-match cliffhanger last weekend.
It was the biggest test for the redeveloped tennis centre, with Australian Fed Cup captain Alicia Molik declaring the team was keen to return to the capital.
Australia will find out who its next opponent is and whether it is home or away when the draw is done in London this week.
It opens the door for Canberra to host back to back Fed Cup ties, with the next round to be played on April 22-23.
Canberra's autumn chill may make it tough to convince Tennis Australia officials to come back to Canberra so soon, but the availability of the AIS Arena and three different surfaces could make it an attractive option.
The next tie will fall at the start of the clay court season in Europe, which could make it tough for players to adjust to matches on grass before going back overseas.
"I think it's important to think about where we're coming from the previous week," Molik said of the next round.
"So I think going from hardcourt all summer to grass is a pretty easy transition. I think if you're going from clay to grass that's obviously more difficult, and more difficult on everyone's body's as well."
The Canberra Tennis Centre has hardcourts and clay courts, as well as the option of playing indoors at the AIS to safeguard against the weather.
Tennis ACT boss Kim Kachel was open to all options after the Fed Cup returned to Canberra for the first time in 20 years.
"We're always open to different opportunities. The tie couldn't have gone any better for us last weekend, 6300 fans and Australia winning in a thriller.
"The Australian and Ukrainian team were extremely complimentary of Canberra and the venue. It was the most significant event we've hosted ... to have it run like it did proved the facility is capable of hosting such events.
"The next tie is going to depend if it's home and away first. Then there's a whole host of different factors ... weather is a consideration, capacity.
"The stars will have to aligns, I'm sure there are different options available. We'll see what's requested and go from there. We've got hard courts and clay courts, now we've seen we can do a drop-in grass as well."
