Toni Childs on feminism and the disease that derailed her

I first saw Toni Childs in Canberra about 30 years ago. Her songs I’ve Got To Go Now, Stop Your Fussin’, Don’t Walk Away were anthems for a generation of women long before the #metoo movement, women discovering their place in the world, women unsure of their direction. Her distinctive voice filled our mix tapes alongside Tracy Chapman, Suzanne Vega and Melissa Etheridge, all singing about a woman’s strength and power.
