A Canberra man was arrested on Tuesday after social media posts prompted a tip off to the National Security Hotline, leading to police raiding the man's home.

The 28-year-old Griffith man appeared briefly in the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday before being taken away for mental health tests.
Chief Magistrate Lorraine Walker refused to formally charge the man with any offences until he had been seen by mental health specialists.
He had been charged by police with possessing an object to be used to kill or cause grievous bodily harm, threatening to act with intent to cause public harm and using a carriage service to menace, threaten or offend.
Outside court, ACT Policing's detective superintendent Scott Moller said the charges related to social media and that police decided to act after receiving a tip off through the National Security Hotline.
Detective Superintendent Moller said there was no information to suggest the man had been acting with others or in a group, though police would keep investigating.
“I would like to reassure the community ... that there is not any ongoing, or any, threat to the community," he said.
He said a number of items were seized at the Griffith property and taken for forensic testing. He said the man was not known to police before and the matter was not bikie related.
Federal AFP officers are also part of the investigation.
