The woman said she had heard about the police chief's death on the radio in a taxi, while returning to a Touch of Class from a client in Queanbeyan about 11pm on January 10, 1989.

When she returned to the Fyshwick establishment, she said she saw Mr Eastman, between 11pm and 2.30am.

Prosecutors allege Mr Eastman had shot Mr Winchester twice in the head after he pulled into a neighbour's driveway in Deakin about 9pm on that night.

He has pleaded not guilty to murder.

The sex worker, who gave evidence via video link, was working the evening to early morning shift that day.

She had seen the man in the Fyshwick business once before, on Christmas Eve 1988.

The man's booking on the night of January 10 was for half-an-hour, she said, at a cost of $70.

She told the ACT Supreme Court jury that Mr Eastman was there for about 45 minutes, which included a shower before the service.

She showed him to the door that led to the car park after the appointment, she said.

On January 18, 1989, the woman was interviewed by police and she identifed a man on the photo board they showed her, the court heard.

She said she later came to learn the client's name was Mr Eastman through police interviews.

She may have raised the killing of Mr Winchester with a client but was not sure who, and said certainly noone mentioned it to her.

Under cross-examination by defence counsel George Georgiou SC, the woman agreed Mr Eastman appeared quite normal, not at all agitated and neither stressed nor nervous that evening.

She said he appeared to be comfortable.
