Crawford's takeover of the welterweight division has claimed its first victim after the pound-for-pound king took Jeff Horn's World Boxing Organisation crown in devastating fashion.

The 30-year-old (33-0) put on one of the best displays of his career to stop Horn (18-1-1) 2.33 into the ninth round at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday (AEST).

Now he has turned his attention to replicating the feat he achieved at light welterweight. He wants to unify the division.

In his sights? WBA super champion Keith Thurman, WBA regular title-holder Lucas Matthysse, IBF champion Errol Spence Jr and the vacant WBC strap.

"Facts. We want them all, we want them all, that’s the goal," Crawford said.

"I feel like I’m getting better and better. I feel like I’m stronger, I’m more energised, I feel like this is a great division for me.

"Right now we’re going to go home, we’re going to enjoy this win. We've been out of the ring for a long time so we’re just happy to be back in the ring.

"We’re going to make up a plan and see where we go but I assure you that we’re looking for the biggest fights out there.

"It feels great, I’m a champion now. I can call myself a champ again. Coming into this fight I was the challenger and I too much didn’t like that, I wanted the title again.

"Now that I’ve got that, rest assured I’ll be back stronger and better next time.

"They’re all going to respect me now."

All three judges had scored the fight 80-72 in Crawford's favour before referee Robert Byrd stepped in and called an end to the bout with Horn eating a barrage of punches.

He hadn't fought in 10 months but it took less than three rounds for Crawford to "know" he was the stronger man in the fight, and when he landed a devastating right hook it was just "a matter of time" before he captured the title.

It was the perfect way to cap off a masterclass that had the slick Nebraskan in control in both an orthodox and southpaw stance.

Horn's camp is open to exploring the prospect of a rematch with the Australian believing he should be entitled to one given he entered the bout as champion, saying "I definitely think I could win a rematch".

It seems the only thing stopping the pound-for-pound king from becoming a global superstar is himself. His lack of a presence in the media leaves him less marketable than other names in boxing, but he is just going to keep doing what he is doing.

The three-division world champion has done enough to be installed as the poster boy of ESPN and Top Rank, whose chief Bob Arum says Crawford will be the next Marvin Hagler.

"Marvin never did anything really to endear himself to you guys but he made more money than any of the middleweights around, because he was Marvin Hagler and he stayed to the end being Marvin Hagler," Arum said.

"So is Bud Crawford, going to be Bud Crawford forever."

If that's the case, there might not be a fighter out there that can stop him. Ever.
